Process

At the outset of any project, our primary goal is understanding. What does the client expect, and how can we best collaborate with them? In the initial consult we explore both the conceptual and olfactory components of the brief, exchanging ideas and smelling raw materials and perfumes together to help build a sensory map of preferences to ensure we are speaking the same language in every sense.

After consultation, our work begins in earnest. We consider notes and materials requests by the client, final intended application, possible points of sale, target consumer, unique selling point, and trends, before we write any formulas. One we have oriented ourselves we begin to iterate on these ideas, translating the theme of the brief into fragrances.

When satisfied with the results of our initial development, we submit our first drafts to the client. During group smelling sessions, there are several critical factors to consider: the overall character of the fragrance, its suitability for the brief and intended audience, and possible changes that could improve the formulas. We include a number of these modification rounds, guiding the perfumes through their evolution and refinement until approval by the client.

Once a final formula is approved, it is submitted for regulatory review, final costing, and pre-production sampling with our manufacturing partners. We are actively engaged with both the client and the manufacturer throughout the process to ensure the final product is perfect.
